1만5천 건설노동자 파업 돌입

토론토 일원의 고층빌딩 공사가 전면 중단됐다.

1만5천여 명에 달하는 건설노동자들의 파업으로 건설프로젝트에 빨간불이 켜진 것.

토론토에 위치한 북미국제노동조합LiUNA의 183 지부 교섭단체들은 2일 공사계약 제안을 거부하고 파업 돌입을 결정했다.

노조는 “조합원들은 일을 재개하고 싶어 하지만 경영진 제안이 노조 요구사항에 크게 미치지 못한다”고 주장했다.

한편 골조 노동자 파업으로 저층빌딩 공사도 심각한 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

LiUNA노조 183 지부는 북미에서 가장 큰 건설노조로 주택, 수도관, 도로, 교량 및 철도 분야 등 약 5만8천 명의 노동자가 소속돼있다.

이번 파업에는 골조·타일·카페트 및 마루공사 분야 특히 고층빌딩 골조 노동자 등이 포함됐다.
